Progress on Ladies' Aid appliqué quilt, and catching up

Hello hello -

It has been a busy month.   In quilting, I am finishing up my Ladies' Aid New York Sampler which was a Barbara Brackman block of the month from 2021.

Each block features appliqué hearts in the corners.  I added sashiko hearts in the border to sort of complete that four-hearts motif.

I used Fun with Barb's excellent fan stencil to mark the top!

The batting is Dream Wool.  I have never used it before so I'm curious about it.

Machine quilting one fan at a time, with my walking foot.  Notice how green everything is outside already.  I have to say, spring in North Carolina is really nice.  The hay fever is brutal though!

And in other news... just some very random recent snippets in an effort to "catch up" with my blog!

I got notice from the New England Quilt Museum that one of my quilts has been accepted into an exhibit this fall.  I'm tickled pink!  This exhibit of Gwen Marston-inspired quilts is being curated by Barb Vedder.  Thank you Barb!

Tried to get some photos yesterday before Easter dinner ;)

The Easter bunny brought a few eggs to Gram and Grandad's home for Charlotte to find!

Last week David planted some herbs at the entrance to our town house - love it!

We continue to make our house feel like home.   I love this small kintsugi-inspired print by the young artist Paige Payne:

It was my birthday the other day and I felt properly celebrated!  Kaela made us a beautiful carnitas dinner and homemade birthday cake.

David and I saw an amazing performance by Yamato Drummers, on tour from Nara Prefecture.

A quick strawberry picking outing with Kaela and Charlotte last week -

Forty days until the lovebirds Camille and Tommy get married!

  6. Your sampler looks wonderful with your personal touch of sashiko hearts in the border. I am using Barb's stencil to machine quilt one of my quilts--but my shoulder hasn't helped me much, so I am going very slowly--just a fan now and then. It will get finished eventually. :)
Congrats on your quilt being accepted for the NEQM show. Wish I could get there to see that one.
So many fun things going on in your family. Hope you had a happy birthday?
Are you very involved in the wedding prep, or are they handling it themselves?
