I loved this Kantha cloth from Bangladesh:
And these screens from Agra were so beautiful - I thought to myself "I see sashiko here, I see quilt designs here"...
They are carved and pierced from sandstone and marble, 19th century copies of 16th and 17th century models.
While walking around this gallery I thought about my most recent quilt-related purchase, Cultural Fusion: A Melting Pot of Piecing Traditions by Sujata Shah - such a cool book - colorful, exuberant, free-form - I can't wait to experiment with her methods!
