Kappabashi

Last Saturday David and I went to the restaurant supply neighborhood of Tokyo, Kappabashi.  We took our little community bus...

To a train (written on the bag: GU your freedom)

and a walk to dishes mecca....

We purchased some miso bowls (I make miso soup a lot) that would also work for rice.  These are to replace our somewhat worse for wear lacquer miso bowls.   The new ones are wooden.  When we bought ten of them, the shop owner asked if we were opening a restaurant;).

We stopped for a Taiyaki snack - these are filled with sweet beans, or custard.  Guess which flavor I chose.

And may have picked up some more hashioki (chopstick rests) for my budding collection:

Fellow riders on the way home.  The bag says "American holic" - I was dying to know what she'd bought.

No October mini to show... but I'm working (playing) on a challenge that Janet O., Rogue Quilter, has cooked up.  You can read about it here.

Do you keep scraps from certain projects all together, separate from scraps from other projects?  I don't.  I just cut some into squares or strips, or throw them together like this.  I use them to make my little collages.

I gave up on the tunic, meaning, let myself off the hook for now.  Still doing hand appliqué in the evenings.  This is the latest Ladies' Aid block (Barbara Brackman patterns).

The weather has been beautiful, great for afternoon walks:

A couple of days ago I went to a big shrine sale (flea market) and will write about that next!
