Another little flower collage study - on a deep purple background - using just scraps I have in my little baskets.
Layers of indigo, Japanese floral, solid, Liberty, and tenugui:
Some Liberty, orange Tilda, a bit of kimono silk:
Thank you Wendy, The Constant Quilter, for gathering us month by month to show our mini quilts. Everyone - Wendy has an exhibit going at the New England Quilt Museum. See a glimpse of it HERE. I'm in awe of her quilts and they reflect the wonderful person Wendy IS.
I am absolutely thoroughly enjoying cherry blossom season.
Lunchtime selfie:
I love the "volunteers" springing up out of the old trunks:

I really love your mini. It is so cheerful. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou are blowing me away with all these adorable collage quilts. This is my favorite so far. I can see a whole wall of these happy little quilts. Thanks for continuing to inspire us all!
ReplyDeleteSo charming! I love the fabric details, such an eclectic mix.
ReplyDeleteSo fun—love the wonderful mix of fabrics you used for those sweet flowers!
ReplyDeleteI just love this series, the fabrics, the fun, the cheerfulness of all of them! That first photo of the cherry blossoms growing out of the tree trunk might just be inspiration for the next one?
ReplyDeleteYou need your own show of these delightful creations, Cynthia! Seriously, they are art!! My DIL currently teaches art at BYU. I am showing her these quilts. She will love them!
ReplyDeleteCynthia, this is a great mini. I always enjoy seeing them, but this one speaks to me. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty mini quilt. Love that orange Tilda fabric! Do you keep them all? And have somewhere special to display them?
ReplyDeleteAnother incredible mini. You are really capturing these free style designs. The colors just pop. I can sense the playfulness you're enjoying.
ReplyDeleteYou have added another charming quilt to your collections.
ReplyDeleteIt gave me an idea - have you ever made a slash quilt? In slash quilts the raw edge is a feature, and I was thinking that if you washed and 'mishandled' a quilt made like this one, you would get another look, soft and fuzzy.
.....
Yes, it is a beautiful time of the year! The volunteer cherry blossoms have always fascinated me.
What a fun mini! You make it look so easy to break out of the confines of traditional quilt blocks and just create something with color, shapes, and texture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet spring collage quilt. Love your colors. This just makes me smile! I love circle on quilts. I've been loving seeing the cherry blossom posts. The darkness of the bark with the lightness of the blossoms is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnother delightful composition created with scraps on hand ... I love colors and the juxtaposition of fabrics. Such a happy little quilt!
ReplyDeleteGreat Mini, Cynthia! And I love that you made it from your scrap basket! Very fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat darling flowers! I love the combination of colors and prints and shapes. Your quilting is really fun too.
ReplyDeleteI love this so much..great job..
ReplyDeleteIf you run out of floral prints, I have a few hundred that are crying for use. The mini is really charming. I wish Tokyo dome could organize a virtual quilt show. There is a lot of creativity taking place in all this down time.
ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic mini, Cynthia! I'm just loving these little works of art. I can tell you're having fun. They make me smile. Would love to see them all in a future post :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Your mini quilts are always so much fun! I'm glad you could get out to enjoy the cherry blossoms. We've finally got them in my area too now!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I like the layering of fabrics and the simple lollipop-style shapes a lot.
ReplyDeleteI adore the look of this one! Super cute. The simple shapes are very appealing to me:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet quilt, Cynthia. I love your mix of fabrics and the simplicity of the flowers and leaves.
ReplyDeleteOur cherry tree just began blossoming today. They are a treat, a true sign of spring, aren't they?
