I finally finished the baby quilt for my cousin and her wife who just had a baby girl. They named her Goldie - such a great name!
I used a scrappy binding - single fold. I cut the strips 1 1/4 inches.
Machine quilting in a very casual random grid:
It washed up well - crinkled up and ready for hard use and lots of washings. The shot cotton is soft.
That's about it. I mailed it off yesterday! It's a small thing but I love how a baby quilt fits perfectly into one of the "medium box" mailers at the post office.
I am really enjoying the steady dose of sunshine here in North Carolina! Signs of spring in the patch of woods behind the deck:x

What a sweet gift!
ReplyDeleteAn adorable quilt! I love the colors you used! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteNice work on the baby quilt--such a nice easy size to manage, aren't they? No great grand babies here as yet; but I may make some for the future? We'll see...
ReplyDeleteWe are still really awaiting springtime here..winds blow cold over the ocean..hugs, Julierose
A sweet quilt. I'm sure it will be loved. I bet you really are enjoying the open space.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling quilt for Goldie! And lovely spring sunshine.
ReplyDeleteGoldie - what a great name! And a sweet quilt, just right for a newborn. Abundant sunshine is something we all hope for, though here spring more often equates to more snow! So nice that you have a bit of nature in your view from the deck.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and un-fussy! Baby’s blankie is sure to be loved for many years. And I agree, Goldie is a great name!
ReplyDeleteYour baby quilt turned out great. I love the simplicity of it combined with the bright colors. Goldie will be sure to love it.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great view toward your back yard. I think your spring is earlier than ours. Most of our trees have the tiniest buds, whereas the shrubs and bushes that are closer to the ground have tiny leaves.
What's better than a simple scrappy quilt? And the backing is bold and happy.:)
ReplyDeleteGreat finish - I love how soft and snuggly it looks! I'm going to remember the color teal next time I make a baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteSew pretty! I am sure that it will be loved!
ReplyDeleteA great baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteI was caught off guard by the baby's name. My grandpa's name was Golden and Grandma used to call him Goldie. So the mental image that came to my mind was my Grandpa's body with a baby's head. LOL
Looks like a peaceful view from your deck.
Your baby quilt turned out wonderfully and so cuddly for floor play time or a snuggle.
ReplyDeleteThat teal blue is wonderful.
Goldie is such a sweet name.
yay - bring on spring!
