Another little collage this month.... 6"x18".
The weather has just been wonderful - perfect for walks. A friend showed me this garden behind the Hotel New Otani - it is about a 30 minute walk from our apartment. This hotel was built ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
We went to church in person (distanced seating, everyone with masks on of course) on Sunday. I loved being in the room for the organ music and hymns.
One of the hymns was "All Creatures of Our God and King" and I love the line:
Dear Mother Earth, who day by day
Unfoldest blessings on our way
Aleluia! Aleluia!
xo gratefully
Cynthia
As I know I will never go to Japan I love seeing your photos
ReplyDeleteI love your April Mini. It is beautiful. I love visiting Japan through your photos. Hugs
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful collage, Cynthia! I have collected some Japanese fabrics and would dearly love to try such a creation. It is going to have to wait, as I have really over-committed myself on SALs. Hardly getting time for the other projects I had planned for this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful garden that appears to be. I am glad you have discovered it and can enjoy the trees.
I love that hymn. Is that your first venture back to in person church? This Sunday we return to the full 2 hours--masks recommended (but not required??), but not necessarily distanced.
What a darling little flower quilt--your quilt lines look like Spring rains...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteOh my! Another fabulous mini. I love the size and shape too and I don't know why I don't do more that way. I can think of several places in my small house to have something that size. Will have to work on that! So happy to hear you were able to attend church safely. Things are creeping back to a better place, but not yet normal.
ReplyDeleteThat garden looks so lovely and serene. Your little quilt is a great way to use those precious bits and bobs that we all save—love it!
ReplyDeleteEach month your minis become more artful and expressive. Your creativity shines through these tiny masterpieces.
ReplyDeleteA lovely little collage! I do like the way you combine the indigo blues with other fabric, very pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful mini!!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your mini collages and this one is so cheery and filled with the sunshine of that gold background fabric. So fun to see your Park photos too, it looks like summer has arrived in Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteYou've done it again! Made another charming collage. I love the bold colours and 'rough' sketch.
ReplyDeleteIn Japan there are many gardens that are 'hidden', between buildings, inside atriums in business complexes, at temples .. A good way to find green spots is to use the satellite view of an online map.
The garden at Hotel New Otani is old enough to have mature trees and mossy stones. They also spend money on proper gardening.
You must have felt refreshed at church.
Another great mini! Love those soothing blues with a pop of yellow! As always, thanks for the peeks into a different culture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mini! I love the shape and size too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful secret garden. I so hope to make it to Japan one day. Any info on the quilt show? I heard a rumor that it will not be back. Fingers crossed that is NOT true.
thanks for sharing your adventures.
Such a sweet flower mini. Love the look of the stitching.:) So interesting to see your pics of the gardens there. I adore the red bridges!
ReplyDeleteThat mini is a garden too, with fish swimming under tall flowers. We do have an in-person service but not allowed to sing, so easier to watch from home. After an hour of pulling weeds in the park, it is nice to see a well-tended garden.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful mini! I just love this little masterpiece. I really enjoy seeing pics of your neighborhood walks. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSweet little piece this month. So simple but so interesting because of the layers and embroidery. I hope you have these minis all hanging together. I think they would make a lovely grouping. We've only been back to church once and my husband was a nervous wreak. I'm a primary teacher and they've started having bi-weekly primary at the church. We will be going back to a normal church schedule on May 30th. Hope my husband is ready.
ReplyDeleteThat is a happy little flower quilt—perfectly darling!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to get to the shaded garden! And to CHURCH! Though the forest behind me is gone, I only need to walk across the street to get to more trees... Going to church is still in the planning.
