With Liberty and Justice for All - star swap blocks quilt

Last week I got out my stack of swap blocks from Fun with Barb's 2020 swap.  Thanks Barb for organizing us!  I know it's a lot of work.

Very happy with this little quilt - fun to sew and I didn't care too much about precision. I decided to keep things simple, and sew the blocks together side by side- in that lovely and meaningful rainbow order.

I turned my sewing table around and watched the Democratic National Convention the whole time I worked on it, so moved and inspired by the messages.

You can see above that I added several of my own extra blocks to make the layout work.

Very excited about the Biden/Harris ticket!

Thanks again Barb!

And thanks again Modern Swappers for all the great blocks!   Isn't this rollercoaster perfect for 2020?

In other news, one more shot of the TV screen - there is hope that I can travel next month to see baby Charlotte!  I have a resident visa, so it should work out!  Well, I'm cautiously optimistic.  Nothing has been officially announced yet.

Our college student son Tommy visiting his niece Charlotte - the best!

  1. I love seeing someone else being enthused by the democratic convention - I too have high hopes and mentioned watching some of the events and I received the nastiest note from a reader that I deleted. I surely do hope they will win

  11. It really is difficult to get sawtooth star blocks to line up perfectly. Yours look wonderful in those modern colors! Very happy looking vibe.:) Hope you can make it back to the states soon!

  15. Your quilt is exquisite! I love the black and white in the colorful stars.

Keep us (me) posted on how your travels to the States works out. My daughter and husband are hoping that I can get to Indiana in time for our grandson's birth but I'm not even sure if I want to try and go. Will I need to be quarantined for two weeks after I arrive? Actually, SHOULD I quarantine myself? I don't want to put mother or baby into any danger. Once there, should I just stay on for two or three or four months? Maybe hope for a wedding to happen on the other side of America (my son). In which case maybe this would be a good time to just retire from all my jobs, permanently especially if there is going to be a quarantine period once returning to Japan.

But looking at Baby Charlotte I can imagine how much you are aching to just hold her for as long as you possible can. It is much harder being away from family in a pandemic than I ever dreamed...

  16. I'm so sorry that I am soooo late in commenting on this wonderful swap quilt. It has been a week. I love your color layout.
Can I post this on my FWB FB page? I've neglected it.
I am inspired by the ticket too. I have my vote plan. Can you do absentee from Japan? can you vote early
Loved the photo of your son holding Charlotte. I know how much you wish it could be you.
I hope the opening goes slow and well.
