Blursdays

The days are blurring.  I heard a joke that in between Monday, and Friday, we have three "Blursdays" - so true.  I suppose Sundays still feel somewhat different but what is a Saturday anymore?

Social distancing at the dry cleaner:

Grocery store finally on board with some distancing measures while in line .... but it was still uncomfortably crowded while shopping, so crowded you couldn't help but bump into people, I mean that crowded!  And transactions are in cash.  Oh.... the germs.

Meanwhile, I'm not sleeping well and my concentration levels are just shot.  But, once I finally got started, I'm really enjoying working on my Humble Quilts doll quilt swap.  I have a very limited stash here so it's a challenge but a fun one.

Since ALL our meals are at home now, I am finding it tedious to clear off the table (or at least half of it) over and over again so I threw together several small "flannel boards" to help me corral pieces and transfer them to and fro.  Nice use for all that Amazon cardboard.

Also still making masks.  These for Kazuko K.

During the day while David and I are sharing the same space but in our own worlds, I've been listening to books on Audible.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens - loved it.

Trevor Noah's Born a Crime was excellent (language/content warning though.  He has a separate version for children)

Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by [Trevor Noah]

Have you seen  John Krasinski's YouTube show Some Good News?  So inspiring, funny, touching, real, and just good through and through.  The latest one made me equal parts proud and homesick for Boston.  It's the best thing on the internet right now!

  1. In supermarkets here, the aisles are too narrow and now filled with people waiting for checkout, and you have to make several trips because they have run out of what you are looking for. Yes, the only thing that changes from day to day is trash collection ... and if you can't remember which day it is like me, I'll have to wait for Saturday and hope the bin will not overflow. Nice selfie!

  2. What is up with people? they just don't seem to grasp this distance thing. I ran into it at Stop and Shop yesterday. Many people are still not wearing masks...? Independent New Englanders.
Clever to make a few flannel boards. I'm glad you have a little project to keep you occupied. It is so hard to settle in and concentrate, I can't even imagine what it is like to be away from your home.
We too are orbiting around the house in our own bubbles a lot of time. I escape to my SR where I have added a soft chair and a floor lamp so I have somewhere to sit and watch TV and applique.
I hope you had a nice Easter, such as it is during these times.

  3. I am feeling the same way--so tired of making meals but I'm lucky to not have to clear things away to be able to sew. I love using block boards--makes it so easy to move things around. I listened to an audio book version of Crawdad's and it was a wonderful story. I'll have to check out Born a Crime. I have to admit that when I wake up each morning I have to take a few seconds to decide what day it is. I went through all day Tuesday thinking it was Friday--don't know where that came from. I think my brain is turning to mush! Take care and stay well!

  4. Blursdays is the perfect term for our current condition. Take extra care in your crowded city.

  5. It really is difficult to remember which day of the week it is. I'm cooking for a few more because of the kids being home and we tend to eat buffet style all the time anymore. So sad, but no-one wants to set and then clear off the table.:) Great idea to do the flannel boards though!

  6. "Blursday" - perfect term! As always, sewing is a lifeline for so many of us. Thanks for the pointer to John Krasinski's Youtube show - will definitely check it out. Stay safe!

  7. Love that term, Blursdays! The few times I've been to The G stores people have been very considerate and the majority have been masked. The shelves have been practical filled except for the pasta, canned beans, and flour. John Krasinski's SGN show is wonderful. I guess it's the small things that we've known all along are important.

  9. I'm feeling the stress too... The rain today doesn't help! No walk and I feel trapped in a house with a grumpy husband (for his own reasons). What day is this today? Does it matter? All this time and no gumption to do anything!!!

  10. What a great interview! Thanks for letting us know about it and a new radio program to listen to. It would be hard being there when your family is here.
I went to Trader Joe's on Friday. There was a line of perhaps 20 outside, all of us standing at least 6 feet apart. When I got into the store, it wasn't crowded but it seemed that most people weren't concerned about how close to others they were. And so many not wearing masks. The money thing -- yes, dirty, ugh. I've thought about putting our bills in the washer with our clothes, which would be great on our end, but getting money back in return it would be dirty all over again.
The flannel boards are a great idea, esp. when you have to move your in-progress work from the table to eat.
I suppose napping's not a bad thing? I do it nearly every day. Uncertain times. Take care.
