Here's one of my very favorites, classic Kaleidoscope in a great variety of scraps:
Many years ago, Dot joined me in this wonderful crazy quilting obsession. I got her started and she took off like wildfire. It's been so fun over the years, to talk quilts! Share scraps, ideas, advice and just the love of quilting. We've never lived close to each other, but maybe someday;).
Here's one we worked on together probably 20 years ago. I pieced two identical tops, and she hand quilted them both:
Dottie has always hand quilted everything, until recently when she's started machine quilting some things.
In recent years we have both gotten into an applique phase:
A familiar one for us Jan Patek fans:
She's currently HAND quilting it:
And another:
Dottie was a SAINT to make this t-shirt quilt (one of the best I've ever seen!) on commission for her friend:
And here is the quilt Dot displayed on her living room wall for years. I call it her masterpiece! Each little patch is 4 inches I think, so much hand applique and hand quilting, and some embroidery. Many of the patches represent family members.
And this is what she is currently piecing. Many of these fabrics are from Japan or from my most recent projects, so I may be biased, but I love the fabrics in this one! The white stars are achieved by snowballing the sashing pieces and using white cornerstones.
Thanks for letting me share your quilts, Dot! ;)

Wow, I love them all and especially the last one. The T-shirt is amazing. I would never try that. And the kaleidoscope using all those colors ... Wow! many times over.

ReplyDeleteEven though you are separated by the miles, you are connected by a shared passion. That is pretty special. Looks like she jumped into this obsession with both feet--in the deep end!
