Quite the operation and I'm just taking some notes here for me, for next time. If there is a next time, ha ha!
Tutorial here from Cluck Cluck Sew.
Can cut two stockings from one fat quarter (mix and match linings and stockings). But be careful about directional fabric.
I used good cotton/linen blend from Quilted Threads for the cuffs.
I ordered the pom poms from Amazon, and the red runs, badly. Errgh. I followed through and these stockings won't be washable, but I won't use the red pom poms for any children's stockings. Next time: ric rac
I have all our stockings with the toe facing the the RIGHT. Tab on the left side.
Loved getting into embroidery a little bit during this process! Whipped running stitch, back stitch, chain stitch, etc.
Leave a gap in the toe of the lining. Make sure tab is on the long side, opposite the toe.
Put everything inside lining... pin really well... and sew around the top through all the layers:
Not pictured - Pull everything through the gap in the lining. Takes some doing to smooth everything out.
Another note to my future self - don't make Christmas sweets in early December. You will just eat them all! You are telling yourself a big fat lie, saying "I'll freeze these spritz/this toffee/these cookies" -
Merry Christmas blogging buddies!

My cookie fairy arrived tonight and the dough is cooling in the fridge for tomorrow's factory. Yes, I have to give them away in order not to gobble them up.
ReplyDeleteBaking and sewing? I am lucky to have made one stocking for my new grandson. And that was from an old sweater so it was easy! Thanks for the tutorial. I will try this in my next stocking adventure. Have a very Merry Christmas!
