Catching up

It can't possibly be the end of October, but it is!  I took a little break from social media which was pretty enlightening (in terms of a reality check on how I spend my time) and it has prompted me to permanently pare back a bit.

I have machine quilted Noelle and Keenan's Rolling Stone wedding quilt... (better photos coming soon)

And shared it out our guild meeting.  I hadn't tacked back the binding yet.

And meanwhile, free spirits that they are, they have moved to North Carolina!  I cried buckets of tears, will miss them so.  But David and I made similar moves when we were young and it's a good move for them, so I get it.

That week, Kaela flew in from Austin for some sister time:

And earlier this month I went with David to London - he was going there for business.  The beauty of  an empty nest and frequent flyer miles.  I can never ever get tired of London and I almost always try to hit Liberty.  Who can resist that Haberdashery Department???  And this time they had these fabulous quilts on display, and for sale.

But let's make our own quilts!

Borough Market - so fun.... yes that is the world's best gingerbread!

Back home in NH... the prettiest time of year!

And to top off the month.... RED SOX!!!  with Kaela and Joe repping Boston all the way from Austin.

  1. I was traveling most of my social media fast, so I don't think I felt the impact as much as I might have. And blogging is my only form of social media.
The quilt looks great. I like the depth created by the lighter blocks falling back and the bolder ones popping out.
I enjoy reading about your travels. You get around to all the places I would love to see, but never have. :)
While we were in MA I heard that the color was better in VT, but we didn't have time to come north.
We didn't have ties to either team in the series, but certainly enjoyed the record setting game. That was something!

  2. Love that Churn Dash quilt and now they will think of you every time they sleep under it! It is hard to let go, and I'd like to tell you it gets easier with time, but it doesn't. Just tell yourself it is a lot less expensive to visit NC than London or Japan! I'm sending you hugs anyway!

  3. So jealous of your London trip! So much fun for you. And your quilt is so pretty. I'd love to see all the subtleties of the colors in person. Sad that your kids are moving so far away, but like you say--will probably be good for them. Hard to be a 'good' mom sometimes! lol

  4. What a lovely new housewarming gift for your kids. Hard for everyone to be separated, but it gives you a new place to visit. London continues to be on my bucket list. Glad you had a good time.

  6. Gorgeous quilt! I have only been to London once (flying from Australia to London, is so expensive!) I loved visiting the Liberty Shop, the building is so impressive.
