Shibori Napkins

At David's suggestion, I decided to make napkins out of the the pieces I dyed in at the Vermont Quilt Festival - that was fun once I got the hang of it,  and we are just going to use them as everyday napkins.

This basket belonged to my Great Grandma Una Fisher in West Virginia.  It's one of my favorite things and embodies wabi sabi.... old, well loved and well used, and showing the crafter's skill and artistry, the use of natural materials.   Utilitarian and beautiful - a great combo.

  2. Great idea! I make my own cloth napkins as well, I just don't have any hand-dyed fabric to make them with - yet! Love your basket - a wonderful keepsake, for sure!

  4. Those are beautiful napkins. I have a similar basket. Although it is not a family heirloom I do treasure it. Have a Happy 4th of July. Hugs

  6. Great use of your shibori pieces. My napkins also lie in a vintage basket ... though they are more ordinary than yours, and the basket is square.
