Shibori Napkins
At David's suggestion, I decided to make napkins out of the the pieces I dyed in at the Vermont Quilt Festival - that was fun once I got the hang of it, and we are just going to use them as everyday napkins.
This basket belonged to my Great Grandma Una Fisher in West Virginia. It's one of my favorite things and embodies wabi sabi.... old, well loved and well used, and showing the crafter's skill and artistry, the use of natural materials. Utilitarian and beautiful - a great combo.

A great idea to make the napkins. Your work will be seen, used, and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThat basket is a treasure. I love beautiful, functional things!
Great idea! I make my own cloth napkins as well, I just don't have any hand-dyed fabric to make them with - yet! Love your basket - a wonderful keepsake, for sure!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hand-made napkins and a family heirloom are perfect together :) So lovely!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful napkins. I have a similar basket. Although it is not a family heirloom I do treasure it. Have a Happy 4th of July. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea to make your fabric into napkins and they look beautiful in your fabulous basket. What a treasure.
ReplyDeleteGreat use of your shibori pieces. My napkins also lie in a vintage basket ... though they are more ordinary than yours, and the basket is square.
ReplyDeleteLovely post and perfect way to use those beautiful shibori pieces.
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous Cynthia. I love that fabric so much.
