Four boys strong

My wonderful sixteen year old niece Alyssa in North Carolina has made this quilt, for her young friend Kieran who is battling Leukemia.  He's the son of one of her former soccer coaches.

Alyssa is a childhood cancer survivor herself, with a sense of empathy beyond her years.

Alyssa appliqued the family's motto -  Four Boys Strong - onto the patchwork.  Kieran has the strength of his three brothers surrounding him - four boys strong.

Alyssa raw edge appliqued the words onto the patchwork background:

She sized the quilt for the hospital bed, and backed it with this pretty celestial print, attaching this angel - HOPE - beneath her label.

No other words to say really, except that my heart goes out to this family as they navigate cancer with their little one, and that I'm so proud of my niece with the heart of gold.  ;).
