full circle...

My 16 year old niece Alyssa flew up here for a few days from NC... to QUILT!

She brought this cute top she had made...

We picked out fabric for borders, backing, and binding...

Alyssa got straight to it.  What a quick learner with great focus...

Most of what I know about quilting I learned from Grandma Mary Lou... Alyssa's great-grandmother...  now I come full circle... a sweet feeling...

We pin basted it to death... resulting in NO puckers...

 ta-da!

And then... she immediately started in on quilt #2 - a log cabin.   This kid just might be hooked!

Spending time with a dear sweet niece... while passing on a love of quilting to a new generation... well... that is my happy place!

    1. Yes, and to my surprise she prefers traditional and reproduction fabrics over brights - so my stash works for her;).

    1. It was so memorable for me too. With texting and FaceTime it will be possible to help her with the next project - but there's no substitute for being together in the same sewing space!

  6. Oh what fun! I am slightly jealous of you in this moment... I wish my daughter would sew with me. Your niece has the most beautiful smile and I bet it has something to do with spending this precious time with you. Her quilt turned out beautiful!
