Front Porch (Summertime) finished at last

I finished quilting this a couple weeks ago... but just got around to taking some photos... takes two willing helpers, daylight, and reasonably clear weather!

This was one of Lori's (Humble Quilts)  fun QAL's and the pattern is from Jan Patek.

While I was making it, at first I'd wanted to replace the bicycle and I asked my artist daughter Noelle to design an alternative, but she said something like "What?  That's the best part of the quilt! I love this quilt!" - so, ya, her name is now on the label and it will go to her!  A fun "someday with kids" quilt.

I free-motioned the whole thing - oh it is so fun to free motion a casual quilt!  I quilted each section separately.  Monofilament thread in the needle, so that just the quilting shows, not the thread.

My two favorite guys, and a glimpse of the backing:

So much snow here in MA, and I love it!

Looking forward to some good quilting time next week during our winter break!

  2. Great finish to enjoy in the middle of all that snow. Better not be standing under that window when warmer weather comes.

  5. I think your daughter was right - the bike is great and the circle element is so graphic.
