Batik Sampler finished!

I think I started this around 2004.  My friend Alyson and I led a block of the month class for fellow stay at home Moms.  It was great!  Those were happy times and I think that happiness is reflected in this quilt.

I LOVE how the baptist fans turned out.  Stencil from Barb of FunwithBarb.

I used a combination of free motion quilting and the walking foot.  Free motion is of course faster and more fun.  Results were slightly better with the walking foot.

I'm calling this one "Fun with Alyson" and stashing it away for future little ones.

Striped binding (always):

Kaffe Fassett backing (LOVE it- reminds me so much of what I loved in my 70's childhood):

Did I mention, I love the effect of the baptist fans?

In other news, David just got back from Japan and brought me a pair of scissors I've been wanting - the perfect size for me to keep by the machine (not too small).

We've had some warmer days and Daisy has loved the extra time walking in the conservation land (and it's good for me, too).

Things are still that late winter/early spring Massachusetts drab, but...... spring isn't too far away!

  7. I love how a quilt can convey a mood so clearly. The baptist fan quilting is the perfect choice and I like the outer border with the triangles a lot.
