Decision paralysis in Shenandoah

I have all sorts of decisions to make....

Mainly revolving around whether this really is the best project for me to try "pot holder" style....

The look of paralyzed indecision:

So I am stuck... and the other four pineapple blocks await a verdict before I proceed...

Tomorrow we will get our next assignment.  It is never too late to join in - pattern available for purchase here and sales benefit the Virginia Quilt Museum.  I've never been there, but I'm a huge fan of quilt museums!

Meanwhile in real life, our autumn has been spectacular!

The leaves on the Japanese maple are just about to turn...

  1. I think it would make a super pot holder style project! Hmmm...maybe a little red between each block...or green, or...

    1. Dawn thank you for your vote of confidence. I am auditioning reds and purples for the bindings...... Meanwhile I'm in awe of your beautiful hand appliqué!

    1. Barbara, thank you! Yes I think I will give it a try - having finished up the hand quilting on that first block during trick or treating...: our house loves the fall, for sure!

  3. I love the paper blocks you made to choose your design layout!
I too will quilt my blocks individually and think your Potholder style would be a wonderful approach to this quilt!

Your home looks beautiful against that stunning Autumn background!

    1. Thank you "aunt Reen" and yes..... I think I may as well use the potholder method! It will be my first time and sounds like a LOT of binding...... but, I will give it a shot;). I may change the layout but wanted to get a feel for what it might look like without the "outlier" rainbow and Liberty blocks...

  4. I love the style of your home. I had a salt box in Illinois and it was butterscotch. It looks cozy and warm.
I say "go for it" on the potholder style for your project.
I use the same, cut and rearrange designing ;)

  5. Well, you know what I will vote for! I think you will really enjoy doing the potholder method. It's funny, but my least favorite part of quilting is the binding and yet I am now on my 12 potholder quilt! I think the binding is so much easier in smaller blocks that on a daunting queen size quilt. My next decision will be what to bind my cheddar blocks with. I will be posting for suggestions when I get to that stage. Have fun with these, yours are beautiful! and BTW, I love your layout. I'm not in love with the rainbow myself, but my favorite is the Liberty Tree and in fact want to make a whole quilt of Liberty Tree blocks!

    1. Thanks for the encouragement Wendy! I was just at NEQM today (to help with switching exhibits - so fun!) and mentioned it to Pam Weeks (who as you know, literally wrote the book) and she gave me permission to sew the bindings just as I would normally - by machine and with mitered corners - tacked back by hand - so I will do that - it's a go!! I too love that Liberty Tree block - on its own especially and yes wouldn't a forest of them make a FUN quilt!
